Old Shit

This section includes a bunch of strips I did for my college newspaper way back when I first started drawing Martin, and which I have no intention of reprinting. Obviously, the ÒartworkÓ on my first attempts at drawing a regular strip is one major reason why I donÕt think world culture is diminished by removing these particular strips from circulation. Plus, some of the jokes arenÕt all that funny, especially if you werenÕt attending UCSC in the mid-1990s.

I include them here because not only am I an anal-retentive fuck with the instincts of a librarian, but also because some people (college alumni, current Santa Cruz students) keep asking to see them. I also included the original versions of ÒKiss BabiesÓ & ÒThe Baby Suit,Ó both of which were partially or completely redrawn years later Ôcause I thought the original artwork sucked. The moral here, kids, is that if you practice long enough and hard enough, you too can go from an incompetent, wanna-be cartoonist asshole to a semi-competent, cartoonist asshole. DonÕt you feel better now?
